the challenge

Ayia Napa Marina is one of the first large investment projects on the island, launched in Cyprus back in 2016, and developed in a key prime location of the island. The project, which is expected to be extremely beneficial for the local economy, is leading the way for nautical tourism in Cyprus and is establishing the need for the development of marinas around the island. As such, it is important to ensure that the project is endorsed by all relevant stakeholders, and that positive perceptions are shaped among local communities, despite the skepticism that usually exists around such large-scale development projects.

our approach

As the official communications partner of Ayia Napa Marina since 2016, Action Cyprus developed a long-term strategy to position the project as a contributing factor to the enhancement of the Cypriot tourism product, through a dynamic and consistent plan of activities. These included creating hype around the official launch of the project, maintaining the momentum throughout the course of time, and continuing to build positive perceptions around the project, leading up to the expected final completion in 2024.

The plan focuses on generating positive publicity through consistent content creation and distribution, building and maintaining good relations with the media and key stakeholders with regular updates on the progress of the project and site visits, and implementing and communicating CSR activities.
